November 2008
Music and the human body are connected… as in playing the violin, singing a song, or dancing. The CLASSICS PHILHARMONIC and City Ballet team up for this "handy" portrayal of the elements of music and an exciting introduction to musical notation and solfege (think Do Re Mi). Prepare yourself for a handful of fun!

A picture can tell a thousand words, but did you know that a picture can also tell a thousand musical notes? The CLASSICS PHILHARMONIC is joined by members of San Diego Pantomime Theatre to perform an original portrayal of the story and pictures of Modest Mussorgsky’s famous “Pictures at an Exhibition”. Focusing on visual arts and music, this concert is sure to stir your students’ imaginations.

Like the many colors woven into a Persian carpet, classical music often blends with music of other cultures. In this musical exploration, The CLASSICS PHILHARMONIC travels to Persia and the Middle East for Norouz, a cultural celebration of the first day of spring. Joined by special folk musicians and dancers, colorful costumes, and traditional instruments, we’ll tell the story of The Persian Carpet and learn how music and culture bring people together.
